Security of the road between Kabul and Kandahar in Afghanistan is provided by a Turkish private security company called Alsancak GAT. 86-man team made up of ex-soldiers and ex-policemen serving in the company is assigned since 2002. People working with the company, also having a tank, are earning between 3 to 4 thousand dollars.

Two commanders, who had served in Muqdisho, the capital city of Somalia, and know the region inside out, submitted a proposal to the Chamber of Shipping on the subject of measures that can be taken against the pirates for close protection of the vessels. According to the proposal of retired brigadier generals Hüseyin Erim and Haldun Solmaztürk, consulting Alsancak Security Company, “Mercenary Soldiers” with heavy artillery and equipment will be deployed on the vessels.
